International applicants on a student visa or status are limited to three hours of distance learning courses per semester according to federal regulations. Our RN-to-BSN, MSN and DNP programs are more than 90% online, and students on F-1 and J-1 student visas will not able to participate. However, students in other visa categories may be permitted to study. For questions, contact the International Student & Scholar Services at Texas A&M University at isss@tamu.edu.

Two of the BSN tracks (traditional and second degree) are not online. International students with F-1 or J-1 visas may apply.

Foreign Transcript Evaluation Applicants with transcripts from non-U.S. colleges or universities must submit a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES member service to NursingCAS.

In addition to each program's stated application requirements, applicants with foreign transcripts must also include a transcript evaluation from an evaluation service which is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. We require a course-by-course evaluation for college/university transcripts from non-U.S. institutions.

The report should reflect course-by-course U.S. grade point equivalencies and semester credits received. These reports must be sent directly from the evaluation agency in the original sealed envelope to:

NursingCAS
P.O. Box 9201
Watertown, MA 02471

If being sent via UPS or FEDEX, send to:

NursingCAS Transcript Department
311 Arsenal Street, Suite #15
Watertown, MA 02472

Students may wish to speak with an adviser and provide results of the evaluation to determine transfer credits. Email nursingadmissions@tamu.edu to request an appointment.

Native Language Transcripts Admitted applicants with foreign transcripts must submit native language transcripts and official English translations for approval before enrolling.

If admitted to the Texas A&M College of Nursing, applicants with foreign transcripts must submit the native language transcript along with an official English translation. These documents must include all original seals and/or signatures and be approved by the Texas A&M Office of Admissions prior to enrollment in the program.

English Proficiency Applicants whose native language is not English must prove English proficiency through TOEFL, IELTS or qualifying U.S. education by the application deadline.

Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit proof of English proficiency by the application deadline. The following will satisfy the requirement:

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 83 for internet-based testing (iBT), taken within the previous two years
  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall band
  • Completing all four years of high school in a U.S. accredited school
  • Earning a baccalaureate degree following four years of study at a U.S. accredited institution

The College of Nursing requires scores that are higher than the minimum posted on the Texas A&M website due to the nature of the curriculum and expected student outcomes in order to verify English proficiency requirements. An official copy of test scores and/or other documentation must be sent directly from the testing agency to be considered official. The test must have been completed within the previous two years. See Submitting Test Scores for how and where to submit your TOEFL score.

Immigration and Financial Documents Admitted international applicants must provide financial, travel and immigration documents and meet all International Student Services deadlines.

International applicants will be expected to present declaration of finances, F-1 travel documents and the immigration informational questionnaire upon acceptance to the Texas A&M College of Nursing, and meet all deadlines required by the Office of International Student Services.

Applicants with Foreign Credentials who are non-citizens will also be required to present a copy of their Permanent Resident Card, if applicable.
